Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility
Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, and to supporting the community we work and live in, is an integral part of the unique culture we have here at BrightVisions.
The main areas we focus our attention on are:-
- Charitable giving
- The Environment and
- Our People
We draw on the experiences and expertise of our employees and promote responsible business practices at every level in the company, striving to conduct our business ethically and honestly so we make a positive difference to everyone we cross paths with.
The sections below show what action we take to ensure that we encourage a positive impact through our business activities on the environment and interaction with our clients, employees and the local community.
Charities
Since BrightVisions began trading in 2003 we have been dedicated to making a positive impact within the local community and sharing our success with those very organisations that exist to make our world a better place.
Every year we make a commitment to pass on 10% of our profits to charities across Cambridgeshire and encourage our employees to volunteer their time to the local organisations we work with.
In 2012 we also started a Christmas card amnesty where rather than sending festive greetings to our customers in the post we sent an E-Greeting and made a donation to a local charity.
To complement our charitable giving and volunteer work we offer all charities our quality IT support services and expertise at reduced rates. So far we have helped Magpas and Alzheimer’s Research UK optimise their IT investment, but we are always looking for other charities and non-profit organisations we can work with.
If you’re a charity and would like to find out more about how BrightVisions can work with you to enhance your IT support and infrastructure and hopefully save you money, call 01480 708888 or email solutions@brightvisions.co.uk.
Our People
BrightVisions’ unique culture is what sets us apart from our competition and is something that we are extremely proud of. A great deal of effort goes in to ensuring that all staff are happy in their roles and also achieve a good work/life balance.
Philip Mashinchi, BrightVisions Managing Director, regularly has 121 catch ups with all employees to ensure that they are happy in their roles and also to gain their feedback on operational processes and how we can improve. Any issues are resolved quickly and the suggestions implemented to ensure that morale remains high within the business.
We like to ensure that achievements are recognised, each month one of the BrightVisions staff is named Employee of the Month and awarded £50 to spend however they please. The awards are voted for by the other members of staff and the feedback received reflects how close knit and happy our employees are.
Training and Recruitment
We have a rigorous recruitment processes at BrightVisions to ensure that we find the right people for the right roles as we feel it’s important to keep our culture as well as growing the team.
Once on board all employees have the opportunity to develop themselves through continuous training and experience gaining new skills which is positively encouraged by the BrightVisions management team.
To ensure a high level of employee engagement employees enjoy a wealth of benefits including private health insurance, pensions and bonuses.
BrightVisions is a highly customer-focused business and we feel that recruiting the right people and providing the right environment to retain them directly correlates with the levels of commitment and service we show our customers.
The Environment
We believe that it’s important to act responsibly towards customers, staff, suppliers and the public with regard to the effect that business operations may have on the environment.
We are constantly changing the way we work to ensure we are leaving the smallest carbon footprint possible by:-
- Offering Virtualisation services for servers
- Recycling all cardboard and paper
- Using local suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint of the goods we use
- Recycling old computers and mobiles responsibly
- Choosing fuel efficient company vehicles and encouraging our staff to do the same
- Using motion sensor lights
- Using email marketing where possible to reduce the amount of paper we use
- If we do need hard copies of documents we print double-sided whenever possible.
- Using water sensibly and not leaving taps dripping (one drop wasted per second wastes 10,000 litres per year.)
- Drop shipping supplies to our customers direct, where possible
- Finding a supply of paper with maximum available recycled content.
- Ensuring all office equipment is turned off at the end of the day
Being a good citizen is an essential part of how we do business. Our message to our workforce is simple; any success that is not achieved ethically is no success at all.
